Red Baron was inspired by legendary triplane Fokker Dr.1, by fighter of 1917 from the First World War, which flew worldknown Manfred Von Richthofen nicknamed “Der Rote Baron”. From that time when pilots were gentlemen and also air combats were at levels. Thanks to his creator Martin David alias Haryk, that after one year and half of sweating in basement workshop saw this machine the day light.
Haryk indeed construed Red Baron by his own hands and he wasn’t hurry at all, the enjoyment of construction was really huge. Step by step Haryk ordered from catalogs finest components referred to his ideas. Still some of components went to be edited to the proper design, welded, honed, dabbled and attached to the frame.
Engine was selected from the SaS company; a proven air-cooled twin cylinder to V with brutal volume of 124cu produced in American Wisconsin. It counts with the classic Super G carburetor SaS with nozzle Thunder Jett, which significantly improves the process of performance curve. Engine has a power to the rear wheel 129HP, torque of 137Nm, 4-1/8 of drilling and 4-5/8 of stroke. For transmission of such power one correct gearbox was needed. Haryk chose six speeds transmission from American company RevTech, when the primary transfer is solved by 3” width belt together with Kevlar clutch from BDL company and final drive (secondary transmission) is also solved with belt.
As Haryk is not fun of very long lying front forks, because of Czech road curves, frame with factory angle neck was used. The front fork is most massive type of Up Side Down, he could get, visually dominates the front of the bike.
Wheel design was chosen to match with characteristics sovereign on the tang, they are 18 inch and the rear tire width is 200mm and 135mm in front. To the appearance of wheels also fit brake discs and pulleys in the shape of the cross. The brake stick is manufactured by PM, mirrors and handles are Arlen Ness, model Bat. Long range allows the tank with capacity of 23 liters. Haryk doesn’t check the consumption, if he wanted to drive some sexless ecological vehicle, he could not saddle this thoroughbred. About the Speedy, this motorbike is not construed for maximal Speedy, anyway it still knows more than 200 km/hour (125MPH), but there’s nowhere to hide; glasses smashed on face, ripping the helmet from the head, mosquito bombing, it’s like a hammer blow! Anyways after the complete appearance, there was a time of complete disassembly and came the time of surface treatment. Airbrushing, which according to Haryk’s proposal, made pro and owner of GR8 company Milan Jaros. Then he put the bike together and finished; Der Rote Baron went out for the first time in spring 2010. Red Baron, the treasure’s cost is about 28.000 Eur, but Haryk does not credited the time he spent on it. It is says, that everything has its merchant; Red Baron is still not for sell. By the time? One never knows.
Meantime Haryk likes passing through the West Bohemia, enjoys the country side and cleans his head and mind. Sometimes he rides with buddies to actions organized by Harley Davidson Club.
Motorbikes are not for rent! Not even to nicest W4B model. Haryk could give her a ride if she not fears, just because she is nice, but never to drive. Erotic girls are not good drivers…
