Lorenzo Di Mauro was born in Italy in 1954. His artistic career began drawing comics and doing illustrations. In 1980, gets its first publication included in a short animated story called “SuperPipe.” In 1981 he moved to Rome and joined the Association of Illustrators.
For a couple of years, Lorenzo continued to produce comics and illustrations, including his first painting Pin Up, he also began his collaboration as a freelance illustrator with Italian subsidiaries of major international advertising agencies. During the 1980’s, the advertising market in Italy offers attractive opportunities for professional recognition and remuneration and soon its time is reserved for this work of advertising painting mostly realistic illustrations.
Lorenzo is working in advertising, fashion and entertainment industry. Among other things he work with the great Peter Greenaway creating artwork for the film “The Belly of an Architect” (1987). During the 90’s its relationship with advertising is still very strong, although not as much fun. He works also in multimedia and experiences the creation of a number of interactive CDs and Internet animations.
In 2001, Lorenzo goes back to one of his first passions: The creation of Pin UP paitings. Digital paitings, that is because at that point he has already replaced his brushes with the grafic tablet.
Lorenzo started learning digital painting at the age of 90, however, continued using acrylic colors, brushes and airbrush as he had done before. Only after finding the means and manual skills suitable for digital media creation with almost everything that was accustomed to do with the natural environment, Lorenzo begins to use them professionally. Today, in fact, Lorenzo works mainly in digital, but sometimes still using the old tools and traditional artwork commissioned works. Lorenzo does private and/or commercial commissions.
