Download Managers and Timeouts

Hi Folks. I've tried Get Right and Free Download Manager to help me manage my downloads in between other tasks, hoping to pause when I need the bandwidth for other tasks. I also had the plan to get a few started and let them go overnight. Queued downloads wouldn't start in getright "403 = forbidden" and then FDM yesterday had issues with downloads crashing just megabytes before completion. I noticed also that Chrome has some kind of download limit and will only allow about 6 downloads at a time to even start. It is taking all the joy and excitement out of this cashed up kid in a candy store. I would say there is a session cookie timeout problem. How can I get these downloads properly managed? Any advice?
